Then
we came to our first ever big river lock
...the
nearby canoe slalom of the National Water Sports Centre
We entered when the light went green,
two
very small narrowboats in an almighty chamber
At the bottom of our descent, the huge gates opened slowly,
and we left
Stoke Lock, which was just as huge but harmless as the last
The
floating pontoon above Gunthorpe Lock
...a village green and a nice-looking pub
Lady Catherine
I
looked out across the duck-dotted, golden River Trent
